Let's try and build a medic.
Characteristics rolls: 6, 7, 9, 4, 8, 10
I assigned them thus:
STR 4, DEX 10, END 6, INT 9, EDU 8, SOC 7
For background skills I chose: Science-0, Language-0, Medic-0 to represent a nerd into medicine with a good education.
I tried to get into university, but failed.
Got into the scholar career (physician of course).
First term: event - romantic relationship ended badly (gain rival or enemy). Rival a fellow physician (Olov Wedekin) trying to outdo our man in the academia.
Skills: Diplomat-0, Drive-0, Electronics-0, Investigate-0, Science (biology)-1
Second term: close survival (I bet Olov pulled some strings), event - your work leads to considerable breakthrough (automatic promotion). Take that Olov.
Skills: Investigate-1
Third term: event - You are called upon to perform research that goes against your conscience. Accept, and you gain an extra Benefit roll, a level in each of any two Science skill specialties and D3 Enemies. Did not accept.
Skills: Medic-2
Term four: rolled on Personal Development - EDU +1
Event: You have the opportunity to cheat in some fashion, advancing your career and research by stealing another's work, using an alien device, taking a shortcut and so forth. If you refuse, you gain nothing. If you accept, roll Deception 8+ or Admin 8+. If you succeed, you gain DM+2 to any one Benefit roll and may increase any skill by one level, but also gain an Enemy. If you fail, gain an Enemy and lose one Benefit roll from this career.
I'm not a cheater.
Rolled for aging: no effect.
Decided to muster out.
Rolled twice on the cash table: 1,000 and 40,000
Benefits: Scientific Equipment x2 (one converted to Electronics), EDU +1, Lab Ship
Tobs Conroy, male human, 34, medic
4A68B7
Medic-2, Electronics-1, Investigate-1, Science (biology)-1, Diplomat-0, Drive-0, Language (Villani)-0
Cash: 41,000Cr
Equipment: Lab Ship, Medikit (TL10)
Short, with brown hair and light green eyes.
He's hard-working, upright, and honest.
Rival: Olov Wedekin, physician, wants to prove that Tobs is a worthless physician.
