NewYearNewCharacter, Day 2

 For the time being I'm going to concentrate on humans, and vary the gender (50%).

Let's try and build a marine.

For characteristics I rolled: 7, 11, 8, 3, 8, 8.
I assigned them thus: 

STR: 8, DEX: 8, END: 11, INT:8, EDU: 7, SOC: 3

A poor kid trying to make it out for themselves.
Background skills: Athletics-0, Mechanic-0, Streetwise-0
Tried to enter military academy (marine), but failed. Tried to enlist to the marines, but failed. Drafted to the merchant marine. Oh, the irony of fate.
Rolled 12 on survival, failed to get promoted (and I made a mistake it's an advancement roll of 12 that you have to take the same career next term not survival). Failed to get promotion.
Skills added: Broker-0, Drive-0, Electronics-1, Persuade-0, Steward-0, Vacc Suit-0
Event: A good deal (+1 DM for one benefit roll)

So another term in the merchant marine. Failed to get promotion.
Personal Development: +1 INT
Event: embroiled in legal trouble. Gain one of Advocate-1 Admin-1, Diplomat-1 or Investigate-1. Chose Admin-1.
Skills added: Admin-1
Mustered out of the merchant marine: INT +1, and a gun (snub pistol).

Enlisted into the marines, got commissioned, but no promotion.
Event: A mission goes disastrously wrong due to your commander's error or incompetence, but you survive. If you report your commanding officer for their failure then you gain DM+2 to your next Advancement roll and gain the officer as an Enemy. If you say nothing and protect them, gain them as an Ally.
Chose to say nothing. We marines stick together.
Skills added: Athletics-1, Gun Combat-0, Leadership-1

Term 2 in the marines.
Event: You display heroism in battle. You may gain a promotion or a commission automatically. Promoted to Captain.
Skills changed: Leadership-2

Checked for aging: no effect.

Term 3 in the marines.
Event: Trapped behind enemy lines, you have to survive on your own. Gain one of Survival 1, Stealth 1, Deception 1 or Streetwise 1. Chose Survival. Failed to get promotion.
Skills added/changed: Survival-1, Vacc Suit-1
Checked for aging: no effect. Decided to mutser out.

Mustered out: 20,000Cr cash, benefits: armour, TAS membership, weapon (converted to gun skill).
Not the best fighter that I hoped for, but a competent leader with a rounded skill set.
